In the application area of electronic equipment technology, the electrical properties of
additively manufactured components are particularly crucial. One of these properties is the
insulation effect on the surface to assess the occurrence of leakage currents. Within this paper,
the surface insulation performance of plastic components produced by Material Extrusion with
thermal reaction bonding (MEX-TRB/P) is discussed. The influence of printing parameters such
as layer height, printing direction, and various pre-treatments were examined. From the results,
it can be concluded that hardly any influence of printing parameters on the insulation performance
was determined with the applied methods. The main influencing factor is the selected pre
treatment, which showed that the insulation performance decreased up to 98 % with increasing
humidity of the samples. Moreover, influencing factors in five categories were identified for future
work.
