Abstract

The scan strategy for the laser sinter of plastic has a significant influence on the energy transfer in the powder bed and consequently on the mechanical and optical properties of the Part. Therefore, some systems offer different scan strategies and scan options, which can be selected depending on the application and desired properties. This article is concerned with the basic aspects of scan strategies and the double fill scan option for LS in order to investigate precisely the effects of these strategies on the mechanical properties of thermoplastics.
